Iroi Best Teams & Team Comps — Shinku, Nanally, and Flexible Shells
Iroi is a sustain-and-support slot, not a second carry. That is why her best teams are built from the same four-part shape: main damage dealer + reaction or cycle enabler + damage amplifier + Iroi. She keeps the damage window alive with healing and defensive utility while the other three slots create it.
This is a pre-release team guide for Iroi’s July 29, 2026 global launch. The two named lineups below come from current pre-release team data; exact rotations, replacement order, and rankings should be revisited once the live banner and global testing are available.
The four-slot rule
Iroi usually takes the sustain slot. Do not replace your main DPS with her, and do not force a second healer beside her. Start with the damage core your account already owns, then ask three questions:
- Who is dealing most of the damage?
- Which teammate enables that carry’s reaction or cycle?
- Which teammate amplifies that damage window?
Iroi is the fourth answer: she lets that three-piece offense stay on the field through incoming pressure. Her value is highest in difficult boss fights, long 999 Nights runs, and accounts whose current healer forces frequent defensive swaps.
Best Shinku team: Charged pressure
| Slot | Character | Job in the team |
|---|---|---|
| Main DPS | Shinku | Spends her burst windows as the team’s primary damage dealer. |
| Reaction core | Hathor | Supplies the Lakshana side of the Charged setup. |
| Cycle support | Esper Zero | Keeps the team’s Cosmos side and rotation moving. |
| Sustain | Iroi | Protects Shinku during aggressive burst strings and restores the team after the counterattack. |
Shinku + Hathor + Esper Zero + Iroi is the clearest pre-launch Iroi shell. It gives Shinku an offense-first lineup without asking her to surrender a slot for a basic healer. Use Iroi’s defensive windows to cover Shinku’s recovery time, then return to the Charged setup instead of lingering on Iroi for damage.
If your account already runs Shinku with a different damage amplifier, preserve the existing offensive core and use Iroi as the sustain upgrade. The key decision is not chasing every named teammate; it is keeping one carry, one reaction/cycle enabler, one amplifier, and Iroi rather than stacking more damage dealers.
For Shinku’s gear and personal rotation, see the Shinku build guide. For the pull decision, see the Iroi banner pull guide.
Best Nanally team: Blossom consistency
| Slot | Character | Job in the team |
|---|---|---|
| Main DPS | Nanally | Supplies the team’s sustained Anima damage and shield breaking. |
| Cycle support | Esper Zero | Supports the team’s Cosmos side and keeps the reaction loop active. |
| Amplifier | Hotori | Creates the damage window Nanally wants to spend. |
| Sustain | Iroi | Keeps the team stable while the Blossom loop wears targets down. |
Nanally + Esper Zero + Hotori + Iroi is the premium Blossom version. It is especially attractive to players who already built Nanally rather than pulling Shinku: Iroi upgrades the one role this team most wants in hard content — reliable, team-wide sustain — without changing the carry you invested in.
Hotori is the premium amplifier here. If you do not own her, do not force an unrelated DPS into the slot. Use the best amplifier or reaction enabler your roster has, retain Nanally as the carry, and let Iroi be the safety net. That preserves the team’s job assignment even if the exact ceiling changes.
Flexible Iroi shell: upgrade a working roster, don’t rebuild it
Iroi is most efficient when she replaces a weaker survival pick in a team that already has a functioning damage core. This is the practical upgrade path:
| Your current roster | Change after pulling Iroi | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Carry + enabler + amplifier + Edgar | Replace Edgar with Iroi | Retains the whole offense while gaining stronger sustain and team support. |
| Carry + enabler + amplifier + Adler | Replace Adler with Iroi when survival is the limiting factor | Iroi is the more universal answer for repeated team-wide pressure. |
| Carry + enabler + amplifier + Fadia | Keep Fadia for shield-heavy comfort; choose Iroi when healing, recovery, and sustained runs matter more | These are alternative survival roles, not characters that must be stacked. |
The rule is simple: Iroi replaces a survival slot, not an offense slot. If your team cannot clear because its damage is too low, a new carry or amplifier may be worth more than a healer. If it fails because people die before the damage window ends, Iroi is the upgrade that fixes the actual problem.
What to do when a named teammate is missing
Pre-launch guides often turn a four-character example into a shopping list. Don’t do that. Use the role, not the name, as the replacement rule:
- Missing Hotori: keep the carry and reaction core; use your best available amplifier rather than adding a second DPS.
- Missing Hathor or Esper Zero: keep Shinku as the carry, then prioritize a teammate that maintains the intended reaction or cycle instead of a random high-rarity unit.
- Missing Iroi: use Edgar, Adler, or Fadia in the survival position and save the rest of the shell. A working team is better than an incomplete “meta” team.
That approach keeps the guide useful on a real account, where pulls are limited and a perfect four-character lineup is rarely available on day one.
Rotation priorities
Iroi’s on-field time should be purposeful:
- Establish the carry’s reaction/cycle setup.
- Apply the amplifier’s damage window.
- Swap to the carry and spend the burst window.
- Bring Iroi in when incoming damage threatens the next cycle, then return to the core as soon as it is safe.
The goal is not to make Iroi deal damage. It is to prevent lost damage windows, failed runs, and emergency resets. Her exact live rotation will be added here after the banner opens and global players can verify timings.
Which Iroi team should you build?
- You own Shinku: start with the Charged shell — Shinku + Hathor + Esper Zero + Iroi.
- You own Nanally and Hotori: build the Blossom shell — Nanally + Esper Zero + Hotori + Iroi.
- You own neither premium carry: keep your current carry-and-support core and replace its weakest survival unit with Iroi.
- You only need a low-pressure story team: Edgar or another accessible survival unit is enough; save resources for the carry or support your account lacks.
Iroi makes the strongest existing team safer; she does not make team-building irrelevant. For the wider role and reaction framework, read the team building guide. For Iroi’s gear, stats, and duplicate value, continue with her build guide.
FAQ
What is Iroi's best team in NTE?▼
The leading pre-release Shinku team is Shinku, Hathor, Esper Zero, and Iroi. It combines Shinku's burst with a Charged reaction core and gives her Iroi's healing and sustain. Final rankings should be checked after Iroi launches on July 29.
What is Iroi's best Nanally team?▼
The leading Blossom setup is Nanally, Esper Zero, Hotori, and Iroi. Nanally is the primary damage dealer, Esper Zero and Hotori support the cycle, and Iroi holds the sustain slot.
Does Iroi need an Anima team?▼
No. Iroi is valuable because she fills a universal sustain and team-support slot. Keep the carry and reaction core your account already uses, then replace the survival slot with Iroi.
Who replaces Iroi if I do not pull her?▼
Use the survival unit you already own, such as Edgar, Adler, or Fadia, and preserve your carry-plus-support core. Iroi is an upgrade in comfort and team support, not a reason to dismantle a working damage setup.
